New Tarpon PAT Tag Funding Brochure
As part of BTT's continuing effort to raise funds for important research, we are introducing the first of our research program funding brochures. The first - Tarpon PAT Tag Funding Brochure - aims to raise funds for the tarpon satellite tagging program. Funds will be used to better understand tarpon migrations, and help us find spawning locations so they can be protected. This is a great chance for tarpon fishing addicts to invest in the future of the fishery.

BTT to Auction Borski/Abel Bonefish Reel
Artist Tim Borski and Abel Reels have once again stepped up to the plate in support of BTT. They have donated a bonefish special edition reel to BTT for auction. BTT has Reel #2 of 100 (Tim has Reel #1). This special edition reel will be auctioned by BTT in the near future.

May Tarpon Tagging Video & 'The Silver Lining'
A successful fundraiser held by BTT and Boca Grande Outfitters earlier this year allowed BTT to purchase 10 tarpon PAT satellite tags - 5 for tracking spawning sites and 5 for determining tarpon winter migration routes. The first 5 spawning tags were deployed in May and footage of the tagging was recorded by Rich Volpe of Rich Day Productions. Buccaneer Zach Gilford Wins Award
Actor Zach Gilford, who recently helped out BTT by filming with us for Buccaneers and Bones (the follow-up season to Pirates of the Flats), was awarded Best Actor at the Alaska International Film Festival, and the movie in which he starred, Matthew Leutwyler's film adaptation of the novel "The River Why", was named the Best Narrative Feature, the Festival announced Friday.

An Open Letter to Fishing Media to Promote Proper Catch and Release
BTT has partnered with the Fisheries Conservation Foundation to call on the fishing media to consider proper catch and release practices for bonefish, tarpon, and permit (and other species) when selecting photos for their publications. Since these media outlets are many anglers' greatest exposure to how to fish, media can have a major influence on catch and release angling. View the letter.

BTT Gains Support of Green Reef
A common Bonefish & Tarpon Trust theme is collaboration, whether it is with scientists, members of the recreational fishing industry, or other conservation organizations. In our most recent collaboration, BTT is joining forces with Green Reef, a Belizean conservation organization dedicated to the conservation of Belize's natural resources.
